Retail Management Development Program
The TGI Retail Management Development Program is designed to develop talented associates into highly skilled managers capable of handling the various operations critical to the success of our stores. 

Requirements
• Junior status required

• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Permanent Employment Authorization/ U.S. Citizenship

Training
The majority of your training will take place in the great indoors stores you are assigned. Your training manual and rotation schedule will list the important areas for each rotation. The rotation schedule is not set in stone since you may be selected to lead special projects as they become available in your district. It is your responsibility however to ensure that these projects do not hinder your progress throughout your training. 

The first week will be spent getting to know the store, the management staff you will be working with, and all of the store orientation materials. You will work will with associates to learn how to ring up customers, interact with customers, and how to sell merchandise. Although you will be rotating through a variety of departments, your focus will remain customer service and associate development. 

The training program consists of five components:

• In-Store Rotations
• Structured Development
• Mentor Program
• Networking Opportunities
• Defined Career Path

In Store Relations
By spending Time in each of function of a retail store, you will soon understand the many facets of store operations.  You will spend time on the sales floor, managing merchandise and leading a team of associates.  You will work with the support functions of Shipping and Receiving and Loss Prevention, to name a few.  In the support roles you will shadow the lead associate to learn how their role contributes to overall store performance.

Your Special Assignments, completed toward the end of the training program, will provide you with hands-on ownership that you will need prior to being placed in your first assignment as an Assistant General Manager of Operations.  You will be accountable for analyzing your business, identifying and implementing an action plan, and working toward your goals.  During this assignment, you are accountable for developing your team of associates, and driving the business. 

The In-Store Rotation and Special Assignments will provide you with a strong foundation of how all the pieces fit together and how to improve your role as an Assistant General Manager of Operations once you are place.

Structured Development
During each rotation, you will be required to complete an online training curriculum complete with quizzes and activities.  The online curriculum will enhance what you have learned on your rotation.

Mentor Program
The Mentor Program will pair you to an identified “high potential” Store Manager or district leader within your market.  We will provide you and your mentor with a toolkit that will facilitate your meetings.  The Mentor Program will provide you with an additional contact in all areas of the store.

Networking
We strongly encourage you to meet new people especially your peers across the country.  We will provide you with some initial contact information; however it is up to you to get involved and interact.  Networking has been a great platform for our trainees to share new ideas and benchmark off other successes.  In addition, it will provide you with a good opportunity to interact with leaders throughout the great indoors on their career paths and leadership suggestions.

Defined Career Path
Upon successful completion of the RMPD (Retail Management Development Program), your career is just beginning!  A defined career path has been established for you over the next six to eight years.  Advancement opportunities to the new roles are based on performance and availability.  The district and region teams are accountable for working with you develop your career and learn new roles.
